March 2024 – Simplification Strategies for Complex Parts and Large Assemblies

Date: March 27, 2024

Time: 9am Mountain, 10am Central, 11am Eastern

This 30-minute webinar will cover tools and techniques to simplify complex parts and large assemblies.

Why would any of us need to simplify a complex part or large assembly?

  • When you want to hide some of your intellectual property from partners who don’t require that level of detail.
  • When you want to insert a customer’s part or assembly into your own assembly but need to simplify their geometry or otherwise ‘represent’ their geometry so that the entire final assembly will be more manageable in the CAD system.
  • When you want to bring geometry into an analysis package which works better with simpler geometry.
  • When fastners, holes, or other small details are simply not needed for the design task.
  • When file ‘weight’ and ‘size’ is the predominant concern.

Some of the tools we will touch on in this webinar include:

Settings (over 300 of them but don’t worry, we will only discuss a few), Flatten Assembly, Split/Trim, Defeature, Remove Feature, Remove Small Bodies, Replace with Bounding Box, Cylinder, Convex Hull, Boolean Union, Cutting Planes,

What’s Next for the Webinar Schedule this year?

We haven’t assigned dates yet this year, but the plan is to have a webinar every month. Some of the subjects include:

  • MagicSTK – Preparing your CAD and polygonal models for flight simulation using Ansys / AGI STK
  • TransMagic Best Practices – How to get the most out of TransMagic
  • Comparison Capabilities – Basic and In-Depth look at TransMagic MagicCheck Part-to-Part Comparison
