Why would you want to remove all the faste
ners from a large assembly? There are a few reasons:
- In order to make the assembly more ‘lightweight’ so that you can zoom, pan, regen and work on the assembly faster.
- In order to hide intellectual propery (IP) from customers and suppliers.
- In order to simplify the problem you have been tasked to work on, assuming that the issue has no need for the fasteners.
It’s not unusual that you may be given a massive assembly with all kinds of extraneous geometry that simply does not pertain to your design task. What if you could quickly remove all components smaller than a certain size?
That’s what TransMagic’s Remove Small Bodies does. You tell TransMagic the size of the largest component you want to remove, and it will remove components of that size or small in seconds.
To implement, simply click on Remove Small Bodies from the EXPERT or MagicHeal toolbars. If you then select one of the larger fasteners, then click on ‘Find’.
TransMagic will assess your component selection, determine its bounding box, and then find any components that have that same bounding box size or smaller, and highlight them all in yellow.
Next, simply decide if you want to Delete or Hide the selected fasteners. That’s it!
Alternately, instead of clicking on ‘Find’, you can click on ‘Show More’ directly input the bounding box volume you want to search for – for example 1 cubic inch.
